In addition to the list of participants released today, the official Bilderberg website has released the key topics that will be discussed at the conference. These topics range from “Developments in the Middle East” to “Nationalism and populism”. Marked by the website’s editor as “not for publication”, we get some idea of the content which will be discussed. We of course won’t learn anything in more detail as the meetings remain unreported and unrecorded so the participants, as the website states, “can take time to listen, reflect and gather insights.” READ THE REST HERE

A Watford Borough Council cabinet member has described the security operation surrounding the secretive Bilderberg meeting, set to take place this weekend at The Grove hotel in Watford, England, as “disgraceful”.
Mark Watkin told the Watford Observer that he has received multiple complaints from local residents about the meeting, and the potentially large protests that are sure to begin this week. READ THE REST HERE

When you’re picking a spot to hold the world’s most powerful policy summit, there’s really only one place that will do: Watford. I guess the Seychelles must have been booked up.
On Thursday afternoon, a heady mix of politicians, bank bosses, billionaires, chief executives and European royalty will swoop up the elegant drive of the Grove hotel, north of Watford, to begin the annual Bilderberg conference.
It’s a remarkable spectacle – one of nature’s wonders – and the most exciting thing to happen to Watford since that roundabout on the A412 got traffic lights. The area round the hotel is in lockdown: locals are having to show their passports to get to their homes. It’s exciting too for the delegates. The CEO of Royal Dutch Shell will hop from his limo, delighted to be spending three solid days in policy talks with the head of HSBC, the president of Dow Chemical, his favourite European finance ministers and US intelligence chiefs. The conference is the highlight of every plutocrat’s year and has been since 1954. WASHINGTON — A sharply divided Supreme Court on Monday said police can routinely take DNA from people they arrest, equating a DNA cheek swab to other common jailhouse procedures like fingerprinting.
“Taking and analyzing a cheek swab of the arrestee DNA is, like fingerprinting and photographing, a legitimate police booking procedure that is reasonable under the Fourth Amendment,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the court’s five-justice majority. READ THE REST HERE WASHINGTON— The Supreme Court on Tuesday struggled with what one of the justices called its most important criminal procedure case in decades, whether to let police take DNA from those arrested, but not convicted, in hopes of using it to solve old cases.
Justices seemed conflicted over whether police have a right to take genetic information from people who have only been arrested but not yet convicted of a crime without getting a judge’s approval first, or if the government’s interest in solving cold cases trumped the immediate privacy rights of those under police suspicion of other crimes.
